IND vs AFG: “I Knew Something Was Brewing” – AB de Villiers Congratulated Virat Kohli On His 71st Hundred

THE KING IS BACK. Indian cricket team’s superstar batter Virat Kohli finally ended the wait for an international century, as he registered a scintillating century against Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 Super-4 match. Kohli’s magnificent century from Virat Kohli ended their batting reign at 212/2.

Continuing on his impressive run of form since his return to the Indian cricket team in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli reached the three-figure mark in 53 balls. Before his 71st came, Kohli had scored two fifties in the Asia Cup as well (59* against Hong Kong and 60 against Pakistan).

During the game against Afghanistan, he walked out to open the innings with the stand-in skipper KL Rahul and he looked in great touch, in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma. This was the first time Kohli came as an opener in T20Is since March 2021, where he had forged a brilliant 94-run stand with Rohit Sharma. However, this was an ever better outing for the former captain as he formed a formidable partnership of 119-runs with Rahul.

Kohli began aggressively, smashing the Afghan bowlers to all the corners of the ground. He registered his half-century in 32 deliveries and took only 53 balls to reach the century. Kohli eventually remained unbeaten on 122 runs off 61 deliveries. His stunning knock was laced with 12 fours and six sixes.

Kohli’s last century in international cricket came in November 2019 against Bangladesh. Now with this stunning century, Virat has equaled Australia’s batting great Ricky Ponting. Only Sachin Tendulkar (100 international centuries) stays ahead of King Kohli now.

Meanwhile, fans on social media celebrated the big moment of King Kohli as he ended his century drought. From cricketers and experts to fans around the world, everyone took to social media to hail the King on registering his 71st ton.

However, one of the best Tweets came from former International cricketer and Virat’s RCB teammate and great friend AB de Villiers, who echoed the sentiments of the fans. He wrote: “@imVkohli  dancing again! What a lovely sight”

In another Tweet, AB de Villiers revealed how he knew something was brewing when he talked to Kohli on the eve of India’s match against Afghanistan. He wrote:
“When I spoke to him yesterday I knew something was brewing💪
Well played my friend”
