AB de Villiers Hints At International Comeback For T20 World Cup 2020

AB de Villiers is one of the best batsmen in the history of the game. In his long and glorious career for South Africa, AB de Villiers earned the love and respect of millions of cricket fans across the world. He is regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen ever and fans love him for his unorthodox and stylish batting.

Presently, AB is playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) and entertaining cricket fans with his stylish and destructive batting. Recently, he smashed 40 off 30 balls and helped his side win an important game. He once again showed that there is still a lot of cricket left in him and to add more fuel to fire burning around his comeback to international cricket, he said that he would “love to” come out of retirement for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020. De Villiers said that he has been in touch with the new support staff and the captain regarding his comeback.

“I would love to. I’ve been talking to ‘Bouch’ (new South Africa coach Mark Boucher), (new director of cricket) Graeme Smith and (captain) Faf (du Plessis) back home, we’re all keen to make it happen. There’s a lot that needs to happen before that becomes reality,” AB de Villiers was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.

AB’s statement has come a month after Faf du Plessis said that conversation was ongoing in the background to bring back AB before the T20 World Cup.

“People want AB to play and I am no different,” Du Plessis said. “Those conversations [with De Villiers] have been happening for two or three months already – what does it look like, how does it look over the next year, and that’s where it starts. T20 cricket is a different beast; it’s not a lot of time away from home. If you are a full campaigner you have to really get stuck in and spend a lot of time on the road. Test cricket now is the most important thing but also the T20 World Cup is not too far away. I reckon there are 20 T20s over the season, which won’t be that hard. Those conversations have already taken place and will do before the next T20 series starts.”
