Pat Cummins and his men broke a billion hearts on November 19th, 2023, as they thrashed the Indian cricket team in the final of the ICC ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to clinch their record-extending 6th title.

In the aftermath of the exhilarating ODI World Cup 2023, several cricketers and experts are coming up with their best ‘Team of the Tournament’.  The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament as they won 10 matches on the trot till the semi-final. AB de Villiers Picked His ‘Team Of The Tournament’

Joining the bandwagon, legendary South African batter AB de Villiers also came up with his ‘Team of the Tournament’ in a recent announcement on his YouTube channel. In his World Cup Team of the Tournament, AB de Villiers picked 5 Indians, while Jasprit Bumrah, who took 20 wickets didn’t find a place.

For the opening position, De Villiers picked Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Australia’s Travis Head. Rohit Sharma was praised for his ‘selfless’ knocks throughout the tournament as he gave amazing starts to the Indian side. He finished as the second-highest run-getter of the tournament, scoring 597 runs. On the other hand, Travis Head played an instrumental role in Australia’s win in the Final match. In fact, he became only the fourth player in history to win the Man of the Match award in both the semi-final and the final match.

At number 3, De Villiers picked the Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli, who emerged as the leading run-getter of the tournament, having scored 765 runs. He also won the Player of the Tournament award for his terrific performances.

Followed by Virat, AB de Villiers picked New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, who scored 578 runs in the tournament, as his number 4 batter.

The middle-order comprised Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, and Ravindra Jadeja. Adam Zampa is the sole leg-spinner picked by De Villiers in his squad. Mohammed Shami will lead the pace attack.
