India’s performance in the limited overs fixtures has been so clinical and dominating that even the South Africans cannot help but appreciate team India. India has been on fire ever since they lost the first two test matches. It’s been real carnage from India since then.
India’s performance on this tour of South Africa was nothing short of stellar and sensational. The test series loss would be a little disappointed for team India but then ever since the third test, India has dominated with authority. India first won the ODI series and now the T20 series too has too ended with India on the winning side. India would be delighted to fly back with 2 of the 3 trophies fought for on this tour.
INDIA WON THE T20I SERIES BY THUMPING SOUTH AFRICA IN SERIES DECIDER
After being asked to bat first, India scored 172 at Cape Town riding on contributions from Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina. The fans were stunned when they realize that Virat Kohli would not be playing the match as he had a stiff back. The onus was on Rohit Sharma and he might have failed as a batsman but his captaincy was spot on.
In response to India’s total, South Africa fell short of 7 runs and India lifted the trophy. For India Shikhar Dhawan top scored with a knock of 47 while Suresh Raina scored 43. As for the hosts, it was skipper JP Duminy who scored the highest but in a losing cause.
JP Duminy scored 55 while debutant Christiaan Jonker made 49. At one stage it seemed that Jonker would steal victory from India’s jaws but that was not to be.
While Suresh Raina was named the Man Of The Match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was awarded the Man Of The Series Award
