Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad broke Virat Kohli’s record in Desert T20

Afghanistan cricket team’s batting stylish and swashbuckling Mohammad Shahzad is in the form of his life. Shahzad, who idolises India’s wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni, is the x-factor of Afghanistan cricket team.

Shahzad was the architect of Afghanistan’s victory in the Desert T20 challenge which was held in Dubai from January 14-20. During the tournament, Shahzad broke Virat Kohli’s record of scoring most number of fifties in an ICC tournament.

Virat Kohli scored 3 fifties in ICC World T20 2016, but Shahzad ended the tournament with 4 fifties to his name, breaking Kohli’s record of three. During the tournament, Shahazad also became the first batsman to score two half-centuries on the same day when he scored 80 against Oman in the semifinals in the afternoon on the same day as the finals.
