The Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is looking ahead to the next challenge of his career, the ODI World Cup 2023 as it would help him propel to another level.

The batting superstar is currently sweating it out for Asia Cup 2023 along with the other Indian cricketers in Alur, Karnataka where the Indian cricket team has set up their camp. The Men in Blue will open their campaign in the Asia Cup 2023 with a game against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2.

The last time that the Indian cricket team locked horns with Pakistan at the T20 World Cup last year, Kohli played a stunning knock of 83 runs which helped the Indian team to pull off an epic chase to defeat Babar Azam’s men.

Virat Kohli IS Looking Forward To New Challenges

Speaking at a promotional event in Bengaluru on Monday, August 28, Virat Kohli insisted that even after 15 years, new challenges still excite him, and the latest challenge in his career is the ODI World Cup at home later this year. He said:

“Any challenge in front of you, you look forward to it. When difficulty comes in front of you get excited. You don’t shy away from it. After 15 years I still like encounters, and the World Cup 2023 is one (challenge). It excites me, I need something new to, you know, propel me to another level,”

Kohli Also Revealed The ‘Highlight’ Of His 15-Year Career

Further, Virat Kohli picked the ‘ODI World Cup 2011’ win at home as his ‘career highlight’ saying that he himself at the time perhaps didn’t understand the magnitude of the achievement. He said:

“The pressure is always there. The fans always say we want (the team) to win a cup very badly. I’d like to say not more than me. So, I’m in the right place. Honestly, I know the expectations are there and the emotions of the people are there. But please know that no one wants to win more than players,”

He added:

“All the more for Sachin Tendulkar, as it was his last World Cup. He had already played many World Cups by then and to win it in Mumbai, his hometown, was very special for him. I mean, it was stuff from dreams,” said Kohli.

Virat Kohli also recalled the memories of the 2011 World Cup and remembered the pressure piled on players ahead and during the iconic tournament. He said:

“I remember the amount of pressure there was on all the players when we were traveling, Thankfully, there was no social media back then. It would have been a nightmare, honestly. But through the airports, it was always just one thing — we need to win the Cup,”

He added: “The senior players were always under the pump and to handle all that pressure. It was just brilliant. And that night (after the WC win) in itself was something magical,”
