Troubles for South Africa just don’t seem to be ending. After their premier ODI player AB De Villiers was ruled out for the first 3 ODIs, now another star player has been ruled out. This time it’s Faf Du Plessis, The skipper of the Proteas.

In what comes as yet another blow to the hosts, their skipper will not be available for the rest of the ODI series as well as the T20 series.

Faf Du Plessis who played a brilliant knock of 120 in the first ODI sustained an injury in the same match. Faf Du Plessis too picked up a finger injury in the first ODI while fielding. South Africa was already in a spot of bother after AB De Villiers was ruled out after the Johannesburg Test.

AB De Villiers sustained an injury on his index finger while trying to catch Virat Kohli. Cricket South Africa has announced two new replacements after the skipper got ruled out.

After a clinical performance in the first game by India, South Africa is already trailing in the series. Now with its two premier ODI players sitting out with injuries there mess only gets uglier.

Now Cricket South Africa will also need to appoint a new skipper for itself. Apparently one among JP Duminy and David Miller can become the skipper of the side in the absence of Faf Du Plessis.

In the first ODI played at Durban India defeated South Africa by 6 wickets. South Africa posted a total of 269 and India swiftly chased it. Both the skippers scores magnificent centuries but it was Virat Kohli’s ton which went in a winning cause.

After winning the first ODI, India is now the favourite to win the series.
