[World Cup 2023] After Hardik Pandya, Another Indian Star Player Injured Ahead Of IND vs NZ Clash

The Indian cricket team suffered a huge blow during the ODI World Cup 2023 game against Bangladesh as star all-rounder Hardik Pandya incurred an ankle injury. He was ruled out of action for that game and as per the official update by the BCCI, Pandya will also miss the upcoming India vs New Zealand match because of the injury.

Injury Concern For Jadeja

Ahead of the India vs New Zealand clash, which is all set to take place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala, the Indian cricket team has suffered another blow as Ravindra Jadeja, the irreplaceable spin allrounder seems to be in some trouble.

Jadeja, who missed the T20 World Cup 2022 because of a knee injury, underwent surgery and seemed to be back in his prime form, however, the knee issue is troubling him once again.

Ahead of the IND vs NZ (India vs New Zealand) Cricket World Cup clash, Jadeja was seen applying an ice pack on his left knee during India vs Bangladesh game. However, the injury is not serious and it is unlikely that he will miss the India vs New Zealand clash like Hardik Pandya.

A Senior BCCI official also confirmed that he is fine but will rot at some point during the Cricket World Cup. The BCCI source said:

“Jadeja is fine. When you have surgery, you need long-term care. Knee injuries are such that they tend to hurt back. That is why he was applying an ice pack. There is no immediate concern regarding his niggle. The medical team and the physios are keeping a tab on all the players including Jadeja,”

“It’s up to the team management whether they want to rotate the squad. But with crucial matches coming up, Jadeja is very important player for us. Maybe, once the semifinal spot is sealed, there could be rotations to keep the players fresh for knockouts,”

Will Ravindra Jadeja play in India vs New Zealand match?

Despite the injury concer, Jadeja will be available in IND vs NZ clash on Sunday. But as confirmed by the BCCI official Jadeja will be rotated in the later stages.
