After winning the test series convincingly the Proteas would have been hoping to make India taste defeat in the ODI series as well. The stage for the 6 match ODI series between India and South Africa is all set as the first encounter begins on February 1 and right before the start of the series, South Africa saw its vest ODI player being ruled out for the first 3 ODIs.

South Africa’s star batsman and one of the best batsmen in modern day cricket, AB De Villiers has been ruled out of the first 3 games as the stalwart batsman has his finger injured. De Villiers got his finger injured while trying to catch Virat Kohli in the first innings at The Wanderers.

South Africa has not named a replacement for its best batsman and will be hoping that AB De Villiers will make a comeback soon after a speedy recovery. AB De Villiers is the second-ranked ICC batsman in ODIs and the best modern day batsman for limited overs cricket after Virat Kohli.

This surely comes as a big set back for the Proteas as their best ODI weapon will not be a part of their arsenal.

He is a champion player in all formats and can turn a game on its head on his own. South Africa would surely miss his services while playing against India for India is a fine ODI side and this was one encounter everyone was looking forward to.

Now things would change drastically for the Proteas as their best ODI player will not be available for the first 3 matches.

AB de Villiers ruled out of first three ODIs against India with a finger injury. Should be back for the pink match at the Wanderers. #SAvIND
