2017 has been a great year for Rohit Sharma and a double ton in the last month sums it up beautifully. The stand in captain of India had 5 tons to his name before the Mohali ODI which was the second highest number of tons in 2017.
First on the list was the newly wedded Virat Kohli who with 6 tons in 2017 was leading the scoreboard. But a brilliant double ton at Mohali has brought Rohit Sharma equal to Kohli’s record of 6 ODI hundreds this year.
Rohit’s knock at Mohali was just unbelievable. He got his third double hundred in ODIs and became the only batsman to ever do so. He destructed the Lankan bowlers who roared loudly at Dharamshala.
He hit 12 big sixes and brought joy to every fan of his and the Indian cricket team.
Rohit Sharma is also the second leading run scorers in the world for ODIs in 2017. The list is of course led by Virat Kohli who enjoys a hefty margin of runs over Rohit Sharma.
An opportunity to go past Kohli
Now all that Rohit Sharma needs is another ton in the third ODI. The third ODI between India and Sri Lanka will be the last ODI India would play in this year. If Rohit gets another ton at Vizag then he would go past Virat Kohli to be the king of ODI hundreds in 2017.
Kohli has 6 tons and he wouldn’t be playing any more ODIs in this year now since he is on a break. Rohit has this amazing opportunity to claim the top spot on the list of most ODI hundreds in 2017. Will he be able to recreate the Mohali magic at Vizag?
