Ajinkya Rahane Found A New Way To Bring Back Good Old Days

Ajinkya Rahane has entered into a new phase of his career where he will have to fight it out in the domestic circuit to make his way back in the national side after being dropped from the Test squad for Sri Lanka.

Both Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were dropped after the South Africa tour following their prolonged period of inconsistency and lack of a big score and both featured in the league stage of the Ranji Trophy.

Rahane, after representing Mumbai in the league stage of the Ranji 2022 season, has been spending time with his family. On Wednesday, he visited his alma mater ‘SV Joshi High School’ in Dombivali, reminiscing his days spent at the place where his cricket journey started. He was accompanied by his wife Radhika and daughter Aarya.

Rahane posted a video on his Instagram. In the video, he talks about his childhood days of playing cricket at his school.

“There’s something about visiting your roots that keeps you grounded. Was at Dombivli with my family and irrespective of how the place changes, it holds the same place in my heart,” the 33-year-old cricketer captioned the post.

“I wanted to come here for many years and today it happened. I started cricket from this place, the school backed me. There are several changes now to the school but coming here felt special,” he said in the video.

It has been learned that soon after the South Africa series, Rahane, Pujara, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha all had been told that they will be dropped from the Sri Lanka series. Rahane slammed a century in his first game of the Ranji Trophy 2022 for Mumbai. In the next three innings, hit hit one more fifty, but registered two ducks.

Mumbai finished on top of their group and will progress to the knockouts. Rahane now will join the Kolkata Knight Riders in a preparatory camp ahead of the IPL 2022, which starts on March 26. He was bought at his base price of INR 1 crore in the mega-auction by the two-time champions, KKR.

Rahane is eyeing a comeback to the Test side for the one Test in England followed by the home 4-Test series against Australia.
