Ajinkya Rahane Shared A Heartwarming Message For His New KKR Family

India’s senior batter Ajinkya Rahane was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 1 crore in the ongoing day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega-auctions.

Ajinkya Rahane, who has been going through a tough phase in his career, was recently sacked as the team’s Test vice-captaincy ahead of the South Africa tour. If reports are to be believed then he could also be dropped from team India’s red-ball squad in order to make space for the youngsters.

However, the veteran can finally take a sigh of relief as two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders have shown some faith in him by roping him for a sum of INR 1 crore.

It has to be noted that Ajinkya Rahane had registered himself for the auction with the base price of 1 crore and Kolkata Knight Riders were the only team that showed interest in buying Rahane during the bidding process.

Meanwhile, India’s veteran player Ajinkya Rahane has come forward to thank the franchise for showing faith in him. KKR via their official social media handle shared a video of Ajinkya Rahane where he expressed his happiness and excitement to join the KKR family. He said:

“Hi everyone. I am really happy and excited to join the KKR family. Thank you so much for showing faith in me. I know the team has been doing really well in the last couple of seasons and I am sure we as a team will do well in this season as well. Also, I am really excited to join the Galaxy of Knights. Cheers”,

Talking about his IPL performances, Ajinkya Rahane joined Delhi Capitals in 2018 after he was released by Rajasthan Royals. He represented the Delhi Capitals in the 2020 & 2021 editions of the Indian Premier League. However, he could only play two games in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League and warmed benches on maximum occasions.

He will now join the Kolkata-based franchise, which has already added some big names like Pat Cummins, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer, and Shivam Mavi, among others.
