The pitch at the Wanderers has triggered great controversies after play on day 3 was called off due to the pitch being ‘Dangerous.’ Play being called off certainly left India disappointed for India was on top of the game when the umpires decided to call off the game as the pitch became unplayable.

Also team India wouldn’t have liked it one bit as Indians were brave while batting even though almost every batsman had taken a nasty blow or two from the pitch. Indians didn’t complain and continued to play with determination.

Ajinkya Rahane Slams South Africa For Calling Of Play

Ajinkya Rahane, India’s vice captain has slammed the pitch and the idea of play being called off because of It. Rahane who top scored for India with a very brave and valuable knock of 48 said “Wicket was challenging, wicket was similar for both the teams. Our openers played well. When me and Bhuvi were batting we were not thinking about the delivery but focusing on the wicket.”

The Indian vice captain further added

“What about them bowling short balls to our bowlers. When Ishant Shami, Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar were batting, everyone was bowling bouncers. I don’t think it’s a dangerous wicket, yes it’s a challenging wicket.” India has given South Africa a stiff target of 241. This would be a very tough target in the context of the pitch.

Rahane top scored with playing a knock of 48 while Virat Kohli contributed with an innings of 41.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar once again did wonders with the bat and came up with a very worthy knock of 33 runs and Shami contributed with a short and crispy cameo of 28 runs. South Africa has already lost opener Ed Markram before play was called of.
