Ajinkya Rahane, India’s stand-in captain for the ongoing Test series in Australia, has impressed one and all with his stellar show in the second Test match against Australia. Rahane’s match-winning performance at the MCG helped India to an eight-wicket and a series-leveling victory.

Meanwhile, a highly experienced coach Pravin Amre talked about the training sessions. Talking to the TOI, Pravin Amre pointed out that they do not think about multiple series simultaneously and to focus on giving the best of their abilities. Praveen Amre believes that it is what enabled Ajinkya Rahane deserves credit for the way he has gone about his job. He said:

“We don’t think about multiple tour at one time. We try to be in that one tour, take one tour at a time and try to give our best in that basically. And that is what Ajinkya did. The year 2020 especially, we have to give credit to him because most of the time we plan the sessions and practice,”

Furthermore, Pravin Amre stated that Rahane organized his own sessions, working harder than before. Rahane kept two training drills instead of one. He also pointed out that it was also his visualization that it is going to be his preparation for the ongoing Australia tour and his hard work has given him the results he deserved and desired. Pravin Amre revealed:

“But this time in particular, in this difficult time of COVID, he planned his own sessions, worked hard, basically harder than before, because he used to practice two sessions instead of one. But those are the small things he worked on, he visualized this is going to be my preparation for this tour of Australia. And any success can’t come just like that; we know preparation is important,”
