Despite all the accolades he earned and milestones he achieved, veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane was never regarded as a T20 batter. In fact, many had ruled him out even before the tournament began, however, Rahane has not just proved his critics wrong but has also taken the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League by storm.
Rahane’s exceptional batting and amazing stroke play has left everyone awestruck and he was at it again as Chennai Super Kings took on Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
Ajinkya Rahane Smashed A Stunning Six
Ajinkya Rahane smashed six boundaries and five maximums during his stunning knock of 71 runs off just 29 balls, which helped CSK put up a brilliant total of 235 runs for four. While all his boundaries and maximums made the fans jump off their seats, however, the boundary that went viral all over the internet, leaving even veteran cricketers go berserk was the insane ‘ulta chamach’ or scoop shot towards the fag end of CSK’s innings.
The shot came in the 18th over of the innings when Kulwant Khejroliya dished out a low full-toss delivery outside the off stump. And Ajinkya Rahane shuffled across, opened the face of the bat, and just scooped the ball in a classy way over short 3rd man for a boundary. The shot left everyone including the former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri going berserk on-air while his colleague Simon Doull was left shell-shocked.

“How good is that? It goes straight into the Kolkata Knight Riders dug out,” said Shastri.
And when the replay of that shot was shown, Doull said, “I’m not sure how!”
