Find Out The Salary Of Ajit Agarkar If He Becomes BCCI’s Chief Selector

Former Indian cricketer, Ajit Agarkar is on the radar to become the new BCCI Chief Selector. He has already quit his post as Delhi Capitals coach. Delhi Capitals recently announced the departures of Ajit and Shane Watson from a star-studded set-up.

On Thursday, Ajit Agarkar applied for the position of BCCI Selection Committee after the BCCI promised to increase the chief selector’s salary.

For the unversed, the Indian cricket board currently offers a remuneration of Rs 1 crore annually to the chairman of selectors. The other members of the panel receive Rs 90 lakh each. Ajit, who was working as a commentator and coach, earned more than what the current annual package the BCCI is offering him for the chief selector job. His appointment could force BCCI to review its existing pay structure.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will begin interviews on July 1 and they will announce their decision likely before the Asia Cup 2023 in August.

Ajit Agarkar is by far the most experienced candidate, having played 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and 4 T20I. In the current selection committee, the four members have a combined international experience of 55 international games. Agarkar has also played 42 IPL games. Agarkar has also served as a chairman of selectors for Mumbai in domestic cricket from 2017 to 2019

“The CAC has the mandate to pick a selector who can stand up to the high-profile team management in case there are differences,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Besides Ajit Agarkar, Dilip Vengsarkar and Ravi Shastri are rumored to be in contention. As the BCCI has relaxed the cap over the selection committee, this means Shastri could very well do a term of four years.
