Sri Lanka’s young mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya stunned India with his outstanding bowling in the second match of the ongoing 5-match ODI series against India.

Akila Dananjaya is a young mystery spinner who troubled the Indian batters with his variety of spin. Dananjaya got the better of 6 Indian batsmen off the 7 who were dismissed during Akila Dananjaya’s unplayable spell.

India were almost set to lose but MS Dhoni and Bhuvneswar Kumar displayed a resolute performance to complete a tricky chase under the Duckworth-Lewis method with 16 balls to spare.

Indian captain Virat Kohli, who was also one of the victims of Akila Dananjaya, called the match as a strange game.

“It was quite an exciting game of cricket. It gave us a tough test out there but was good to come through. Was good to see two 100-run stands in a 230 run chase and then a collapse. Strange game but good that we came through,” a relieved Kohli said at the post-match press conference.

Kohli was all praise for Akila Dananjaya in his post-match interview.

“Akila Dananjaya bowled an outstanding spell. Even batting at No.3, I would have still gotten out to that delivery. It’s difficult when you haven’t seen the guy but now we will be more careful.

“Credit to him, he capitalized on the hesitation because we were not reading him too well. He attacked the stumps,” Kohli said.
