Amit Mishra Trolled Shahid Afridi Royally On Twitter

Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra won many hearts on social media with his fitting reply to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, whose retirement advice to Virat Kohli has created waves in the cricket fraternity. The timing of Shahid Afridi’s retirement advice to Kohli left many surprised as recently the Indian batting maestro came roaring back to form by registering his 71st century. Kohli turned out to be the second-highest scorer of Asia Cup 2022, with 5 matches at an average of 92 and a strike rate of 147.59. Afridi had said:

“The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was a struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high,”

He added:

“It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it in style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.

Afridi’s statements didn’t go down well with the fans who trolled him left, right and center. Now after being widely criticized on social media mainly by the Indian fans, the former Pakistan captain was trolled royally by former India spinner Amit Mishra for advising Kohli to quit the game on a high note rather than being questioned or dropped from the squad.

Amit Mishra, who is very active on social media, was quick to notice the statements from Shahid Afridi and he didn’t take time to slam the Pak cricketer for the same. In his Tweet, Amit took a dig at how some people take retirement only once. He wrote:

“Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this. 🙏🏽”

For the unversed, Shahid Afridi, who captained Pakistan in the 2011 World Cup, had announced his retirement from all formats of the game after the marque event however he again took it back on the board’s insistence. Later, he led the side in the 2015 World Cup and then again took retirement from all forms of the game in 2017.
