All of these sound very fancy, but truth be told, despite your match-defining knock against South Africa, everything has a proper time. Maybe, people are just overtly emotional but you need to understand that you are competing against two wicket-keepers who are already in the pink of their form.
Rishabh Pant has entered that phase where he can slot in at any position. Despite a couple of wobbles in the Asia Cup, Pant’s arsenal is wide and the kind of shots that he plays is absolutely massive to be defied. The best part about the southpaw is that he is extremely versatile and the kind of impact that he has is exactly what a team needs from its batters in the middle order.
He can also charge from ball one which is definitely not your style. You are someone who loves to settle in and then unleash the battery later, an approach that has somehow been forsaken by Team India.
Now comes into the picture, Dinesh Karthik. The man who literally held destiny by the scruff of its neck and turned it upside down. You cannot simply write Dinesh Karthik off the list anymore.
So the point is where do you come in the team? Honestly, this Indian team that is in Australia, it hasn’t got any places reserved for you. But you are looking at it from a totally long angle. You were never meant to be included in this World Cup. The spots were already sealed and what you could have done is push harder for the upcoming 2023 World Cup.

Sanju Samson, you are someone who can still be one of the best bets of the Indian team in the longer formats but you need to avoid all these noises around you. You need to be a believer. The path would come calling.
