India’s swashbuckling opener Rohit Sharma has once again found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling after he once again failed to perform in the ongoing 1st Test match against England.
On Day 4 of the ongoing first Test match in Chennai, the Indian cricket team made a stunning comeback and bundled-up the visitors for 178 runs in the second innings.
However, team India started the second innings on a bad note as they lost Rohit Sharma early while chasing a daunting 420-run target. Rohit was dismissed after scoring 12 runs off 20 balls off Jack Leach’s delivery. He smashed one four and a stunning six during his knock. Earlier during the first innings, Rohit was dismissed after scoring 6 runs.
It has been a long time since Rohit scored a big number. In his past eight innings, the 33-year-old has only managed to score a single fifty. In fact, Rohit has been struggling in the longest format of the game, ever since he scored a double century against South Africa at Ranchi in 2019. During the Border-Gavaskar trophy, there were incidents when Rohit threw his wicket away after getting off to a good start.
India batted for 13 overs in the final session, it will be interesting to see if India is able to chase down the remaining target of 381 runs off 90 overs.
