Ace Indian tennis player Sania Mirza is the nation’s pride and has brought laurels to India throughout her career. However, this time around, she has found herself at the receiving end of online bashing and trolling.
Indian fans weren’t too pleased when Sania Mirza was spotted cheering for Pakistan during the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 between Pakistan and Australia. Sania was in attendance at Dubai International Stadium to watch her husband Shoaib Malik, a Pakistani cricketer.
Shoaib Malik is hailed as one of the most loved Pakistani cricketers. He is among the several match-winners in the Pakistan cricket team. He played a couple of amazing knocks for Pakistan in the ongoing mega-event.
Sania didn’t want to miss out on watching her husband play in that crucial must-win semi-final, considering, that the cricketer is nearing retirement in his international career. Malik has already retired from Tests and ODIs and plays only the T20s.
However, midway through the match, Sania started trending on social media. Some cameras in the ground had caught her supporting and cheering for her husband and Pakistan cricket team and the same didn’t go down well with the Indian fans.
Fans started trolling the ace tennis player, however, things turned ugly when several users started sending hate towards Mirza and called her a traitor for supporting the neighbors.
