Angry Virat Kohli Kicked The Ropes On His Way Back To The Pavilion

The Indian cricket team kickstarted their day 1 of the ongoing second Test match against New Zealand on a disappointing note. After the morning session was washed out because of rain, team India suffered a huge blow as they lost two back-to-back wickets of senior batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli.

The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who was rested for the 3 T20Is and 1st test match, returned to the setup for the second Test match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Virat Kohli was expected to play a big role for the team, however, the cricketer failed miserably and his dismissal has now raised many eyebrows.

Virat walked in to bat after the dismissal of senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, who was dismissed for a five-ball duck. Ajaz Patel became the pick of the bowlers for the Kiwis as he did the maximum harm to the Indian side by dismissing Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and the big fish, Virat Kohli.

After sending Pujara back to the pavilion, Ajaz Patel struck another lethal delivery in the same over that created problems for the Indian skipper. Patel gave a massive appeal and Kohli was given out by the on-field umpire but the dismissal was surrounded by controversy. Virat reviewed the immediately, and that is when things turned interesting.

In the review, it was seen that the ball seemed to have hit both bat and the pad almost at the same time, at the point of impact. However, the third umpire Virender Sharma, after watching the replay numerous times and from different angles, couldn’t come to conclusive evidence to overturn the decision.

As the ball-tracking showed three reds, and Choudhary once again raised his finger, Virat Kohli and the onlookers couldn’t believe it.

On his way back to the pavilion, Virat stopped and spoke at length with umpire Nitin Menon about the decision but only to his dismay. While walking off the field, Virat shook his head in disbelief and slammed his bat on the boundary ropes. Even the onlookers were left heartbroken as the camera caught a couple of fans, showing their anger at the umpire’s call.

Even after returning to the dressing room, when the camera panned towards Kohli, who was still looking confused with the decision. The India skipper reacted animatedly watching the replay of his dismissal on the big screen.

Clearly see there was deviation. Ball hit bat first. Virat Kohli immediately take review. Third umpire doing such mistake. Nothing is going good for Virat Kohli. #IndvsNZtest #ViratKohli pic.twitter.com/P3Ugpa3rY3
