Indian Women Cricket Team stunned one and all with their outstanding display of cricket in the opening match of the ICC Women World Cup 2020. India took on the defending champions Australia in their own backyard and delivered a performance that has put Australia under a lot of pressure.

India’s young leggie Poonam Yadav delivered a performance that will be remembered for a very long period of time. She took four wickets, including priced wickets of Rachael Haynes and champion all-rounder, Elysse Perry. Poonam Yadav didn’t start off too well as she has just recovered from an injury. The young leggie bowled many lose balls and full-tosses at the start of his spell but as the game progressed, Poonam Yadav got her rhythm back and spun a web for the Australian women.

Yadav troubled the Australian women with her wrong ones and made them look ordinary in the opening match of the ICC Women World Cup 2020. Earlier, Shafali Verma, the 16-year old youngster, played an outrageous cameo and brought India into the game with her batting. Shafali scored 29 runs off just 15 balls, smashing 5 fours and 1 six. Deepti Sharma also scored unbeaten 49 runs to take India to a respectable total of 132 runs in 20 overs.
