The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli is also very impressed with his bowler. Ahead of the third test match, on Wednesday, during the virtual press conference, Virat heaped praises on Siraj’s performances. Virat, who has worked closely with Siraj even in the IPL for their franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, was asked whether he was surprised with the performance of Siraj. Responding to this, he gave a brilliant answer. He said:

“No, I was not surprised (with the intensity of Siraj) at all because I have seen him from close quarters. He is a guy who has always had the skill, he is a very skillful bowler. You need the confidence to back that skill, that the Australia series provided him with that boost and confidence. He is walking around knowing he can get anyone out at any stage and the belief in his game has been elevated to another level, hence you see results of what he is doing,”

He added:

“The skill was always there, the confidence and execution are different now. I am really happy to see him coming into his own, he is going to be this kind of bowler, who is in your face and who is looking to get guys out and who is not scared, he is not going to take a backward step,”

The Indian cricket team is currently leading the ongoing 5-match Test series with 1-0 after the first Test match ended in a draw and India registered an incredible comeback to win the second game at the iconic Lord’s Stadium. Both the teams will now lock horns in the Third Test match that will begin today at Headingley, Leeds.

Virat was also asked also stated that there is no reason to make changes in a winning combination of the playing XI. However, he also mentioned that off-spinner R. Ashwin, who is yet to play a game in this series, could be considered. He said:

“You don’t want to disturb or interrupt a winning combination, especially when the team has achieved such an incredible win. The players are even more excited to take the field again, and do the things that we really enjoyed doing,”
