Arjun Rampal Trolled VIVO Like A Boss After TATA Became IPL’s New Sponsor: Earlier this week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) welcomed a new title sponsor, the Tata Group, for the next two IPL seasons after Vivo pulled out of their remainder of the contract.

This massive decision was taken at the board’s Governing Council meeting of the IPL on Tuesday. After the conclusion of the meeting, Brijesh Patel, the IPL chairman, confirmed this change to Cricbuzz. “Vivo has exited and the Tatas will be title sponsors,” Patel told Cricbuzz.

Vivo, a Chinese technology company, had bagged the title rights at a cost of INR 440 crore per year from 2018. However, the deal was interrupted for a year in 2020 amid the Indo-China diplomatic standoff; Dream 11 then stepped as the title sponsor in IPL 2020 before Vivo returned for the 2021 season.

The original 5-year deal was up to the 2022 season and it got extended till 2023 because of the one-year break. Vivo had a couple of years left in its sponsorship deal with the IPL before they pulled out completely.

Tata Group, the Indian business giant, takes over and will be the IPL title sponsor for the next two seasons (2022 and 2023). The league will now be called Tata IPL.

Famous Actor/model Arjun Rampal was elated with this news and shared his happiness on social media.

Taking to Twitter, Rampal put a short video showing the Vivo logo changing to Tata’s logo. Rampal captioned the post: “And that’s a Six!!! What a way to replace logo of Sponsor of IPL.”

Further in that meeting, the board also approved the Letter of Intent to be issued to CVC Capital, whose acquisition of the Ahmedabad franchise has been under a cloud for the last couple of months.

Now, both Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchises have to decide and announce their top three picks from the available players. The mega auction will be in Bangalore on February 12 and 13.

Also, the BCCI is pondering over staging the entire IPL 2022 in Maharashtra in a bio bubble environment in light of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in India.
