The long wait has finally come to an end for Arjun Tendulkar as he will be raring to go today, making his debut for Mumbai Indians after being associated with the franchise. He will be making his IPL debut in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday in front of his father, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, and his family.
Arjun Tendulkar finally makes his debut
With this, the duo will become the first-ever father-son pair to have played in the IPL, with both of them making their appearances for Mumbai Indians. Sachin last played in the league in the 2013 year.
For the unversed, Arjun was roped in by Mumbai Indians in the auction before the 2021 edition of the IPL, for a base price of INR 20 lakhs.

A year later, in the IPL 2022 mega-auction, Arjun had attracted Gujarat Titans too having raised the paddle before he eventually return to MI for a price of INR 30 lakhs. However, despite his presence in the squad for two seasons, he wasn’t handed his debut cap until on Sunday, April 16 of 2023.
Arjun received his debut cap from Rohit Sharma
Ahead of the toss, Arjun was seen having an intense conversation with his father Sachin Tendulkar. Later, MI captain Rohit Sharma, who has not been included in the first XI for the match against KKR owing to a “stomach bug”, joined the conversation with Sachin with the duo trying to motivate Arjun ahead of his debut.
Meanwhile, right before the toss, Arjun received his debut cap from Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma in a team huddle. Besides Arjun, South Africaโs Duan Jansen also made his IPL debut on Sunday, against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mumbai Indians won the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and opted to bowl first. Regular captain Rohit has caught a stomach bug, and Suryakumar Yadav stepped in to lead in his absence.
โWill love to bowl first, the wicket looks dry. The ball comes onto the bat nicely later. Rohit is out, he has a stomach bug. Time to put up a good show. We are going with one change, Duan Jansen comes in, rest all is the same,โ Surya said at the toss.
