“Arrey Yaar, Wish I Was There”: Ravindra Jadeja Expressed What He Felt While Watching T20 World Cup 2022

India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is all set to return to the Indian cricket team, after a long gap of five months, for the upcoming 4-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Jadeja’s return to action has come as a major boost to the Indian cricket team as he has been an invaluable member of the side.

Jadeja last played for the Indian cricket team in the 2022 Asia Cup in September. Jadeja suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup 2022, following which he had to undergo surgery and since then he has been missing from the Indian set-up as he has been recovering. Now after a gap of four months, Jadeja is all set to make a comeback to the game.

Meanwhile, for the first time, Jadeja explained the reason behind undergoing the surgery before the T20 World Cup 2022 and stated that he would not have been able to play in the marquee event in any case. He revealed that personally, it was a difficult decision for him to make whether to undergo surgery before or after the World Cup, but in the end he went by the doctor’s advice. Speaking in a video for BCCI.TV, Jadeja said:

“I was eagerly waiting to make a comeback and play for India. I had been struggling with my knee for sometime, so surgery was needed. I had to take the decision whether to go for the surgery before the World Cup or after. Doctors advised me to do it before the World Cup because chances were less of playing at the World Cup had I not got the surgery done. So, I made up my mind to go for it,” said Jadeja in a video for BCCI.TV.

Further, Ravindra Jadeja revealed the emotions that he felt while watching the T20 World Cup on TV. The star all-rounder stated that the disappointment served as motivation for him to make a strong comeback to the game. He said:

“The period after that was tough. Rehab, training; you have to do regularly. You have thoughts like when will I be fit when not. When you watch a match on TV, you realise ‘Arrey Yaar – I wish I was there’. All those thoughts come to mind. These little things motivate you that you have to come back as soon as possible in the team,” added Jadeja.

Ravindra Jadeja recently made his return to action in a Ranji Trophy game in the last week of January between Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra. Playing for his team Saurashtra, he picked 8 wickets in the game,  proving to Indian selectors that he is ready for the Australia challenge. The first of the four Tests against visiting Australia will begin on February 9 in Nagpur.
