Arshdeep Singh impressed one and all with his fiery performance in his first T20I match at home as he picked up three wickets in his very first over. Arshdeep displayed magnificent swing bowling skills to help team India win the game. He kickstarted the game on a blockbuster note for the Indian side to register a comprehensive eight-wicket win and go 1-0 up in the three-match series.
As the game started, Deepak Chahar gave a perfect start by dismissing SA skipper Temba Bavuma in the opening over, and Arshdeep Singh continued it with a remarkable three wickets in the second over of the match. His victims included the likes of Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller.

After the match, he was interviewed by his own coach Paras Mhambrey, where he revealed how he recently developed a new skillset that is helping him in plotting opposition dismissals. He credited simplicity in plans and bowling in the right areas to wreak havoc in the South Africa line-up. He said:
“I had thought about what to say if I get the man of the match award and got a little excited (on being eager to come and talk). In the first over DC bhai (Deepak Chahar) set the tone and we knew there was plenty of help from the surface. The plan was to keep it simple and bowl in the right areas,”
Arshdeep had missed the series against Australia to work on conditioning at NCA and admitted to being refreshed in outwitting the South Africa batters. When asked about the wicket he enjoyed the most from his fiery spell. He said:
“I enjoyed (David) Miller’s wicket as I thought he was expecting an outswinger but I bowled an inswinger instead (to get him out for duck).”
