Ashes 2023: Australia’s superstar batter Steve Smith is hailed as one of the modern legends of this game, especially when we talk about the Test format. Apart from his amazing batting skills, Smith is known for his hilarious style of leaving the ball. He is known for shuffling a lot in the crease while batting. The stylish batter was at it again during the ongoing first Test of the Ashes 2023 against England at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Smith caught all the limelight with his leave and left everyone in splits. He walked out to bat in the first session on Day 2 when Stuart Broad had the chance of becoming the first bowler to pick up three hat-tricks in Test format.

Broad was on a roll after dismissing David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne off consecutive balls. But on his hat-trick ball, Broad bowled one down the leg side and Smith shouldered his arms to it.

However, the way Smith let the ball go through to the wicketkeeper was hilarious. Fans were quick to notice the leave and soon it sparked a meme fest on social media.

Check out some of the hilarious memes:

Talking about the ongoing 1st Ashes Test match, Smith scored 16 runs off 59 balls and could not hit a single four in his knock. After Australia lost the early wickets of David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne, Smith and Usman Khawaja put up 38 runs for the third wicket.

However, Smith was dismissed soon before the lunch break on Day 2, Smith bit the dust. Ben Stokes smashed him on the pads, after which the on-field umpire gave him out.

Smith used the DRS thinking that the ball might be going above the stumps. However, the replays showed that the ball crashed into the stumps. Australia lost both Smith and a review.
