Asia Cup 2020: BCCI Gives A ‘Big No’ To Playing In Pakistan

Asia Cup 2020: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has clearly stated that the Indian cricket team will not travel to their neighboring country, Pakistan if the Asia Cup is hosted there. The statement also came that BCCI has no issues with its counter cricket board, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but it is only circumstances that hinder BCCI from sending the Men in Blue for the continental tournament.

The controversies involving both cricket boards happened mainly due to the Asia Cup 2020 which Pakistan will be hosting and will happen in a T20 format mainly to help the Asian sides to steady their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

Things started escalating when Chief Executing Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan was firm with his statement when he declared that Pakistan will not take part in the following year’s T20 World Cup which India is set to host if the Men in Blue does not come to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup 2020.

“The question isn’t about the PCB hosting the tournament. It is about the venue and as things stand now, it is quite clear that we would need a neutral venue. There is no way that an Indian team can visit Pakistan to even participate in a multi-nation event like the Asia Cup.”

“If the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is ok with an Asia Cup minus India then it is a different ball game. But if India is to participate in the Asia Cup, then the venue cannot be Pakistan,” the official said as quoted by the Quint.

It would be interesting to see how things shape out between the arch-rivals for the Asia Cup 2020 because it is almost certain that the Indian Cricket Team will not tour Pakistan in the near future.
