Suryakumar Yadav’s sensational knock gave India the much-needed win against Hong Kong on Wednesday in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. The bowlers managed to put up a stellar show against the top order of the Hong Kong cricket team, restricting them to a total of 193 runs.

Chasing the target, things were looking very bleak for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team before Suryakumar Yadav walked out to bat and number 4 and took the game by storm. Suryakumar Yadav smashed six maximums and as many boundaries, to power the Men in Blue to a total of 192 for five. His impressive show against Hong Kong has earned him praise from all corners for his terrific knock.

Among many, former Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Gautam Gambhiropined that the batter is a better fit at number 3 than Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli. Yes, you read that right. Gambhir feels that it is the form that should be taken into account and not reputation, and SKY has been in some tremendous form off-lately. Impressed with his batting, Gambhir, in the post-match discussion with Star Sports, said: “I believe if Surya bats at number three, it will be better as compared to Kohli,”

Gambhir and SKY had shared the dressing room back during Gambhir’s Kolkata Knight Riders days, and smiled at each other before Gambhir mentioned: “Maine toh bol diya he ki he should be batting at No.3.”

“See, I have a reason behind it. The reason is that you don’t fiddle with someone’s form, just because you want someone else to get back in form. He was unbelievable in England when everyone struggled. He was brilliant in the West Indies as well. He’s 30 as well. He is not like 21, 22”,

He added: “He doesn’t have a lot of time on his hands. Make him bat at No.3, make the most of his form and Virat Kohli, he has got so much experience, he can still come and bat at No.4, depending on the situation as well. I personally feel that Surya should be batting at No.3 from here on till the World Cup and see how the results is going to be,”

Following this, TV presenter Jatin Sapru replied saying, “Usne (Suryakumar) bola he should be very flexible.” Responding to this, Gambhir immediately said, “Woh uska majburi he,” as Suryakumar and Jatin shared a laugh.
