The Asia Cup 2022 final clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka turned out to be a nightmare for Pak’s all-rounder Shadab Khan after he got hit on the head twice during the Sri Lanka innings. The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team defeated Pakistan National Cricket Team by 23 runs to lift their Asia Cup trophy. Fielding first, though, the Babar Azam-led side started off the final clash with a brilliant note taking back-to-back wickets.

however, they were not able to hold on to the pressure as Sri Lanka made a stunning comeback into the game. Riding on the unbeaten knock of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka posted a total of 170 runs from their registered 20 overs. Partly, Shadab was one of the reasons behind Pakistan’s defeat in the final clash, as he dropped two crucial catches, one of which was parried for a six, in the death overs of the game.

On the last ball of the penultimate over, Pakistan players Asif Ali and Shadab Khan collided at deep midwicket after Rajapaksa tried to hit Mohammad Hasnain’s delivery for a six. The collision was so nasty that the play was halted for a while and Shadab had to receive treatment after his head collided with Asif’s elbow.

It was a terrible day for Shabad as just when things looked to go well for Pakistan, Shadab dropped a crucial catch of Bhanuka Rajapaksa at long-on off the bowling of Haris Rauf. Shadab misjudged the trajectory of the ball and was not able to complete the catch while back-peddling.

Meanwhile, later after Pakistan lost the game, Shadab took to his social media and took complete responsibilitxy for the defeat. He wrote: “Catches win matches. Sorry, I take responsibility for this loss. I let my team down. Positives for team, @iNaseemShah, @HarisRauf14, @mnawaz94 and the entire bowling attack was great. @iMRizwanPak fought hard. The entire team tried their best. Congratulations to Sri Lanka”
