AUS vs ENG: “Big Auction Coming Up”: Jos Buttler Teases Cameron Green About IPL Auction In 1st ODI

Only a week has passed since the T20 World Cup 2022 concluded, and while there are two bilateral series going on currently – Australia hosting England in ODIs, and New Zealand hosting India for T20Is and ODIs – fans are buzzing about the IPL 2023 auction as earlier this week all the 10 franchises announced their list of retained and released players.

One of the expected hot picks in the forthcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction is going to be Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who is all but confirmed to enter the auction, which is set for December 23 in Kochi.

Being a 23-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder who can bat in different positions, Cameron Green is likely to cause a fierce bidding war in the auction room and fetch a big amount for himself despite having played only a handful of T20Is so far in his career. Green had earlier blasted two fifties in T20Is as an opener before the T20 WC which raised his stock.

Everyone knows this fact, and even Jos Buttler, the England white-ball captain, as he teased Green about the upcoming IPL auction when the two teams met in an ODI on Thursday in Adelaide.

The incident took place in the 41st over of Australia’s innings, bowled by left-arm spinner Liam Dawson. Green was batting at four from 7 deliveries at that time.

On the third ball, Green jumped down the track and attempt to play a big shot but didn’t connect it well, after which Buttler made a cheeky remark and said, “Good to see someone playing a shot, Dawss!!”

On the next ball, Green calmly defended, after which Jos Buttler reminded him of the IPL min-auction coming soon.

“Chasing the ink. Big auction coming up, Daws,” Buttler said. His remarks were picked up by the stump mic, and the broadcaster uploaded the video on social media, which went viral in quick time.

Meanwhile, Australia emerged victorious in the first ODI, defeating the T20 world champs by 6 wickets. Dawid Malan’s century helped England post 287 after early wickets. For Australia, the top three of David Warner, Travis Head and Steve Smith all scored half-centuries helping scale down the target with three overs to spare.
