AUS vs WI: Ricky Ponting Rushed To Hospital After Heart Attack Scare While Commentary In 1st Perth Test

Former Australia captain and now commentator Ricky Ponting was rushed to a hospital in Perth after he reportedly suffered a heart attack scare while commentating during the ongoing Perth Test match between hosts Australia and West Indies.

The 47-year-old legendary Aussie batter and skipper turned up for his commentary stint for Channel 7 on Friday at the Perth Stadium. Ponting left the ground at around lunchtime and was not on air during afternoon sessions.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Ricky Ponting’s co-commentators and other officials in Perth have stated that he is stable but went to the hospital for precautionary checks since he was feeling unwell.

Fox Sports have provided some positive news that the nature of Ricky Ponting’s health scare is not thought to be serious, but he chose to get checked out after he was concerned with some symptoms he was experiencing.

“Ricky Ponting is unwell and will not be providing commentary for the remainder of today’s coverage,” a Channel 7 spokesperson was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.

“It’s not yet known if Ponting will return to commentate on Saturday, or the remainder of the Test.”

Speaking about the Australia-West Indies Test in Perth, the visitors have folded for 283 in their first innings in reply to Australia’s massive total of 598.

Openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul registered half-centuries but then got out and the others couldn’t contain a hostile Australian bowling attack. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took three wickets each and Nathan Lyon bagged a brace as the hosts took a big lead of 315 runs.
