Australia secured an emphatic and a historic win to kickstart the Ashes and their WTC cycle of 2023-25. From what felt like a gloomy defeat that was lurking in the shadows for Australia, things changed emphatically with Pat Cummins leading the side to what was an incredible victory.
But then with all said and done, and the dust almost about the settle as the two teams gear up for another lip-smacking encounter and this time at the Home of Cricket, Australia has to think about the remainder of the series. Is there a change needed? Well, ideally one shouldn’t be breaking the winning combination but if they are expecting Pat Cummins to deliver day in day out, that means there is some serious problem with the batting order of the Aussies. One of the major ones though is the one that stars David Warner. Here are two reasons why David Warner must be dropped for the second Test.

#1 Inconsistency
The inconsistency for David Warner has been absolutely massive. Somehow, in a match he would score a century but then in the very next one, he would falter as if that was just an one-off innings. Being a batter of his stature, someone who loved to torment the bowlers, he has indeed fallen hard from grace. And with the kind of firepower that Australia has, he should ideally now start becoming the second choice.
#2 Get Travis Head up in front and forge the Australian version of Bazball
Travis Head has been in destructive form and the way he plays cricket, it feels as if he is out there for a T20 match. He is an experienced campaigner and can ride the bandwagon at any given point in time. He would lay waste to the opposition even before they would know and this is exactly what makes him so special. With David Warner repeatedly failing, it is high time that Australia takes a radical approach.
