Australia’s speedster Shaun Tait aka ‘The Wild Thing’ has officially become an overseas citizen of India. Tait got married to Indian model, Mashroom Singha, in 2014. He met Mashoom in an after-party at a time when he represented Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals in 2010. After four years of relationship, Tait and Mashroom decided to tie knot in 2014.

Shaun Tait took to Twitter to share this news with his fans. He shared a picture of his ‘Overseas Citizen of India Card’.

Now the biggest question in fans’ mind is:

“Does that make him eligible to represent Indian cricket team?” just like Eoin Morgan (Ireland and England), Dirk Nannes (Netherlands and Australia).

The International Cricket Council (ICC rules) state that he needs 4 years after his last international performance to represent another country. Shaun Tait last played for India in 2016 and this means he will eligible to play for India from 2020.

Tait is one of the fastest bowler in the history of the game. He made his debut for Australia in 2005 but his career didn’t flourish the way it should have, because of injuries. Tait represented Australia in 2 Tests, 21 ODIs and 35 T20Is and has picked up a combined total of 91 wickets in all the three formats.
