Veteran cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle attracted some trolling tweets toward himself after he agreed with a tweet that said people should not feed pigeons.
On Friday, a Twitter user with the handle @DoctorLFC, made a vehement request to people asking them to not feed pigeons.
The user tweeted, “Please stop feeding pigeons. You are quite literally sponsoring respiratory diseases to yourself and people around.”
This tweet received some support and some criticism. Feeding or not feeding pigeons has been a hot topic in recent months. Some studies have suggested that feeding pigeons can lead to lung disease.
A report in India Today said, “Medical experts say that while several cases of respiratory ailments may be a result of the aftereffects of Covid-19, the spread of pigeon colonies in cities is another factor causing lung issues—from breathlessness to severe fibrosis.”
Harsha Bhogle agrees with this view and asked his followers, too, to not encourage feeding pigeons.
Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “Absolutely. Please, please, stop feeding pigeons. They are a menace to health”
As is the case with any view on social media, people stood divided. Some trolled Bhogle, calling him an “average whatsapp uncle”, while one user even tagged PETA, commenting that Bhogle is “spreading hate” toward birds.

Meanwhile, Harsha Bhogle opined that England are on a course of leveling the series by winning the ongoing Test in Ranchi. Even though it’s only the end of day 2, Ben Stokes’ team has gained a strong upper hand through Joe Root’s century and then Shoaib Bashir’s four-for.
By stumps on Day 2, India are on 219/7, still trailing by 134 more runs on a pitch that has low bounce and is playing tricks now.
Bhogle tweeted: “At this stage the odds will be on the series being 2-2 going into Dharamshala. For India to be in the game, the tail needs to add at least another 80 and then back the spinners to bowl them back into the match.”
