Axar Patel Revealed How His Teammates Are Teasing Him After His 5th Five-Wicket Haul

Indian ace spinner Axar Patel made a dream start to his red-ball career as he continued his brilliance with the ball on Day 3 (Sunday) in the ongoing 1st Test match between India and New Zealand at Green Park Stadium, in Kanpur. Axar Patel impressed one and all with his brilliant display with the ball as he bagged yet another five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket.

Axar proved his worth once again as he bagged 5 wickets for 62 runs in New Zealand’s first innings to help India restrict the Kiwis on 296 runs. Patel dismissed Tim Southree for five runs to complete his fifth fifer in 4 games for the Indian side. Earlier, Patel picked crucial wickets of Tom Latham, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, and Tom Blundell as he powered his way through the clueless middle-order of the Kiwis.

Axar Patel Revealed How His Teammates Are Teasing Him After His 5th Five-Wicket Haul

Later, after the match, speaking on Star Sports, Axar Patel revealed how his teammates have been teasing him after his 5th five-wicket haul. He revealed

“Taking five wickets in seven innings is something the other teammates have been teasing me about. It’s like a dream within a dream start. Test cricket isn’t easy.

“When they were no loss at stumps yesterday, it seemed like a difficult situation. This is the kind of pitch where you can’t expect wickets all the time. You have to be consistent with your line and length.”

Further, Axar talked about his performance and revealed what would have troubled the Kiwis. He said:

“I have been using the crease well. I have a round-arm action, and that was working well on this pitch. I would bowl from wide of the crease and something would happen. I think that troubled them,”
