Pakistan cricket has undergone a major transformation post their embarrassing 3-0 home Test series whitewash at the hands of England. While PCB chief Ramiz Raja was sacked, the whole selection committee led by Mohammad Wasim was also removed. Amidst all this, there were rumors that captain Babar Azam too would lose his captaincy following the humiliating defeat at the hands of England.
Ever since the rumors of Babar Azam getting sacked from the captaincy started floating, his teammates including the bowling sensations — Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took to their social media and came out in support of their skipper. After the third Test between Pakistan and England, Shaheen wrote:
“Babar Azam hamari or Pakistan ki Shan, jaan or pehchan hai. Wo Hamara kaptaan hai or rahe ga. Kuch or #sochnabhimanah hai,”
Harris also took to his social media and shared a picture of himself with Babar Azam, with the caption: “You are and will remain our leader. #sochnabemanahai #Respect.”
However, Shaheen Afridi deleted his tweet after the appointment of Shahid Afridi as the interim chief selector.

Meanwhile, ahead of the first Test match against New Zealand, the Pakistan captain, in a press conference, Babar Azam was asked if cricketers should involve themselves in such controversial trends on social media. Responding to the media, Babar Azam came up with an epic reply. He said:
“Everyone has their own mindset, jis tarah aap log bhi journalist hai, jis tarah saare chezein start kar dete hai and ek dusre ko back karte hai (Just like you journalists tend to start things and then back one another). We players also have the same unity and that is not just for me, that is for the entire team. When the team loses, such things tend to happen. But as a player and a captain, I tend to be in my zone. We lost the last series, but we will definitely make a comeback,”
