The upcoming T20 World Cup is just around the corner and the fans in India and Pakistan are eagerly waiting for the eagerly anticipated India-Pakistan clash in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Over the years, the Indian cricket team has been dominant in the World Cups against Pakistan whether it is T20 World Cup or ODI World Cup, India has always managed to clinch the win over the arch-rivals. Ahead of the high-octane clash between the two arch-rivals, uring an interview with the ICC website, Babar Azam said that the Pakistan team have the perfect knowledge about UAE surface after playing cricket for the past few years which will be very beneficial for the team. He also made a big prediction by saying that they are going to win the World Cup. He said:
“We’ve been playing cricket in UAE for the past 3-4 years and we know the conditions really well. We know how the wicket will behave and the adjustments batters will have to make. On the day who plays the better cricket, wins the match. If you ask me, we will win.”
The Pakistani skipper further added that team’s confidence is at an all-time high and they are only looking forward to the match. He stated:
“Your belief and confidence as a group matter a lot before a tournament. As a team, our confidence and morale are really high. We are not thinking of the past but the future. We are preparing for that. I am fully confident that we are well prepared and will play good cricket on the day.”
Babar Azam also highlighted that cricketers will be entering the tournament with good form after the good performance in the domestic circle. He said
“All the players have entered the side after a good domestic performance. We have a lot to learn from the senior players in the side because they have so much experience, they have played the World Cup and leagues before. 7-8 players in our squad have also played the Champions Trophy before which brings out different confidence,”
The Pakistani skipper feels that coaches Mattew Hayden and Vernon Philander on the table, which will be very useful for the team. Babar Azam said:
“Hayden and Philander bring a lot of experience. Our attempt will be to learn from them as much as we can and quickly. The boys have the ability to absorb quickly and mix with them.”
He added:
“You can see Philander has already started working hard with the bowlers and you can see the past record, bowlers win you the tournament. Hasan Ali was our best bowler in the Champions Trophy. He will take the bowling line-up alongside him.”
