In an absolutely bizarre match in the ongoing season of the Big Bash League, Sydney Thunder registered the lowest-ever score in the history of the T20 format. It turned out to be a shocking match between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers as the former team was bowled out for just 15 runs.

Yes, you read that right. The batting lineup, which included the likes of international players Alex Hales and Rilee Rossouw, failed miserably. While chasing the target of 140 runs, Jason Sangha-led by Sydney Thunder was bowled out for 15 in 5.5 overs and lost the game by 124 runs.

Talking about the game, as bizarre as it can get, the home side endured a shocking outing with the bat as the highest scorer of the side was their no.10 – Brendan Doggett, who scored 4 with the bat. The four runs came from the sole boundary of an innings that lasted less than 40 minutes. Both openers – Alex Hales and Matthew Gilkes – were dismissed on a duck and the team was five down for merely 9 runs. Turkey’s Henry Thornton registered a mesmerizing figure of 5/3 in the game, while Wes Agar picked up four wickets, conceding six runs. The Sydney Thunder were bowled out in merely 5.5 overs.

Previously, the lowest score in the T20 format was 57 runs, which was recorded when Turkey was bowled out for 21 against the Czech Republic in August 2019 in Ilfov County. This was also the lowest score in the Big Bash League history as well. The unwanted record was previously held by Melbourne Renegades (57 runs).

Here’s the list of lowest-ever T20 scores:

  • 15 – Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers
  • 21 – Turkey v Czech Republic
  • 26 – Lesotho v Uganda
  • 28 – Turkey v Luxembourg

Fans were left shocked after the disastrous performance by the home side. Check out how Twitter reacted to an incredible scorecard in the BBL match:
