The Italian women’s footballer Agata Isabella Centasso recently hailed Virat Kohli, the former Indian men’s cricket team captain and batting great, as the GOAT of cricket.

Virat Kohli’s fan-following certainly has seeped into even lesser cricket-playing nations such as Italy, and his famousness has transcended beyond only the cricket fans as now an Italian women’s football player has acknowledged the greatness of the player whose fans call him the KING.

Virat Kohli sits atop the charts of most centuries in ODI cricket, having recently broken the record of 49 ODI centuries of Sachin Tendulkar during the World Cup 2023. In the same tournament, he also broke Tendulkar’s record of 673 runs from the 2003 World Cup and became the first batsman to amass over 700 runs in an ICC tournament.

In another tweet, Agata Isabella Centasso, who boasts of over 70,000 followers on Instagram, stated that she had started following cricket a year ago at the suggestion of some of her Indian friends.

“I have started following cricket almost a year ago. I have some friends from India, they’re so passionate about it. They got me into cricket :))” she tweeted.

Coming to Virat Kohli, the 35-year-old has taken a break from the white-ball leg from India’s upcoming tour of South Africa. Rohit Sharma, too, is on a rest and both the senior players will miss the 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs in South Africa before the Test series. Both Rohit and Kohli are expected to feature in a couple of red-ball practice matches ahead of the 2-Test series.
