Jasprit Bumrah suffered the injury on the eve of the series opener against South Africa which captain Rohit Sharma described as a ‘niggle’ at the toss. However, it was later on revealed that Bumrah will miss the entire series.
Bumrah recently made his comeback to the Indian team after recovering from a back injury. He was a part of the 3-match T20I series against Australia, where he played in two games and picked only one wicket. He didn’t look in his best shape during the series and also turned out to be expensive for India, after having conceded 50 runs in the 3rd T20I without picking a single wicket.
All the attention will now turn towards who will take Bumrah’s place in the team. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar are the two likely contenders as they are part of the standby players.
