BREAKING: 12-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes Ranji Trophy Debut For Bihar

In one of the most shocking events at the start of the Ranji Trophy 2024 season, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made his first-class debut for Bihar on Friday at a very young age of 12 years and 284 days.

The Ranji Trophy 2024 got underway on Friday. Bihar and Mumbai are competing at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna for their Elite Group B game.

This news of the debutant being only 12 years old, as shown in his birth certificate to the officials and the BCCI records, has stunned all the cricket fans. Baffled fans scratched their heads upon learning that Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his Ranji trophy debut at the official age of 12.

However, this claim has been refuted by multiple reputed journalists on Twitter. Some have dug up an interview of Vaibhav from last year in which he reportedly said that he would turn 14 in September last year. But, interestingly, according to his birth certificate that has gone viral on Twitter, Vaibhav’s Date of Birth is mentioned as March 27, 2011.

In the interview, Vaibhav said that he has notched up 46 centuries and 2 double-centuries at all levels of cricket he has played. Last year, he played in the Quadrangular Under-19 Series for India B Under-19s.

Check out the interview here:

While the dispute and debates of his age will rage on for a while until a clarity is offered by the Bihar Cricket Association or the BCCI, there must be some special talent in the youngster that Bihar have gave him his Ranji Trophy debut. Aged 12 or 14, Vaibhav is one of the youngest ever players to have played in India’s domestic cricket.
