Team India under Rohit Sharma became World Champions after winning the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. Sharma has been an integral part of carrying India’s batting line-up along with Virat Kohli all throughout these years. He has opened for India for over a decade in limited overs cricket and have destroyed bowling attacks all over the world. He has also been a selfless leader for the Indian Cricket Team. Under Sharma, India qualified for the semi info of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022, qualified for the final of the WTC in 2023, qualified for the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 without losing any game, won the Asia Cup 2023 and now won the T20 World Cup 2024 without losing any game.

He has always played selflessly for the team in the last two years, taking the attack to the opposition and setting the game up for the middle order. After the T20 World Cup 2024, he announced his retirement with Virat Kohli from the shortest format of the game. The fans suffered a great heartbreak when he announced his retirement from T20I’s. However, it was coming as he wanted to leave the space for the next generation and he has achieved everything in T20I cricket. So, he wanted to leave on a high.

In a recent interaction during the launch of his Cricket Academy in the USA, Sharma assured the fans that he will keep playing in ODI’s and Tests for some time now and there is no immediate chances of retirement from these two formats. So, this comes as a very happy news for the ardent Indian cricket fans with the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 and the ICC World Test Championship final in 2025.

“I just said it, I don’t look that far ahead. So clearly you will be seeing me playing for a while,” Rohit said.
