Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is all set to tick another momentous milestone off his list as he gets ready to play his 500th match for the Indian cricket team against West Indies. Virat Kohli, who made his Test debut 12 years ago against the same opponents in the year 2011, will join an elite list as he will become only the fourth Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni to reach this landmark.

Brian Lara Ignores Phone Call To Greet Virat Kohli

Ahead of the second Test match, Virat’s day was made when he was greeted by Brian Lara. Every time a modern-day great crosses paths with the yesteryear legend, it is an eye treat for the fans.

And Tuesday wasn’t any different as Kohli was greeted by ‘The Prince of Trinidad’. Lara was on his way back towards the changing room when the duo met. They chatted briefly before continuing with their respective chores.

However, it was Lara’s heartwarming gesture that went viral. The West Indies legend was on his phone talking to someone, but the moment he saw Kohli approaching him, Lara reached his arm out to Virat and shook hands with him. The duo embraced each other before engaging in a small conversation even as Lara held his phone over his left ear. After a couple of ‘thumbs up’ gestures, Virat Kohli headed upstairs.

The video of the same has been going viral on the internet. Watch it here:

Lara also met head coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, and Ruturaj Gaikwad among others.

Meanwhile, the ongoing tour to West Indies is turning out to be special for Kohli for more than one reason. Recently, Kohli also met the legendary Garfield Sobers and it was no less than an eye treat for the fans. Dismissed for 76 in the first Test at Dominica, Virat Kohli would look forward to making his 500th international match even more special for him.

The second Test match will also mark the 100th Test between the two teams and Rohit said it will be a big occasion. Talking about the second Test match, Rohit Sharma admitted that the West Indies will make a comeback in the series decider after suffering defeat at the hands of the visitors. He said:

“It’s an honour to be taking the Indian team into this game and it doesn’t happen every day. The two teams have so much history, so much of good cricket played. I will expect no different in this Test. I am sure they (Windies) will bounce back and it will be exciting for both teams,”

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who became only the third Indian to score 150 on his debut, will be looking forward to extending his purple patch. Shubman Gill could only last 11 balls after dropping himself down to number three, he will be trying his best to make a comeback in the 2nd match.
