Brian Lara is one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. During his playing days, Lara destroyed almost every bowler of his generation. Brian Lara’s batting was always a delightful blend of class and aggression and watching him bat his heart for West Indies was always a great sight for cricket fans across the world.

Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in a single inning of a Test match (400 against England), and he is the only batsman in the rich history of cricket to reach the landmark of 400 in any form of international cricket. Recently, Australia’s David Warner came very close to scoring 400 in a Test innings against Pakistan. Warner was batting very aggressively on 335 but the Australian captain Tim Paine declared the innings, keeping the team’s focus as the prime target.

Recently, Brian Lara was asked which batsman can break his record and, interestingly, he ignore David Warner and took India’s Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw’s names. Lara said that Rohit Sharma has the potential to reach the landmark of 400 runs, on his day.

“A guy like Rohit Sharma who you know you wonder if he’s still a Test cricketer or not,” Lara said.

“If he gets going on a good day, on his day, on a good pitch, right situation he can do it. It will need an attacking option,” Brian Lara added.

Interestingly, he ignored Virat Kohli and took Prithvi Shaw’s name because he is a more “attacking” option. Lara put his weight behind the young Mumbai batsman and said that Shaw has the world in front and he can come back soon.

I know he’s fell off the radar a little bit, Prithvi Shaw was one of those attacking options. Hey, here’s a 19-year-old who has the world in front of him, hopefully, he can come back soon,” Brian Lara was quoted as saying by News Corp.
