Veteran broadcaster Charu Sharma came to the BCCI’s rescue as he stepped in at the last minute to take charge of the IPL auction after auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed a couple of hours into the event.
Charu Sharma had to urgently step in and replace Hugh at the auction. Though, Charu was requested to step in at the IPL 2022 mega-auction without any preparation time but he looked calm and composed during the mega-event.
At the same time, the versatile presenter continued with the auctioneer’s duties during the second day of the event on Sunday as well. He has been receiving praises from everyone for his commendable presentation during the event.
Meanwhile, the veteran broadcaster shared a video on his official Twitter handle and expressed his gratitude to everyone after he had successfully gotten the job done. Charu Sharma said:
“Hello, friends. I should have sent this message a couple of days earlier, but as some of you know, the last few days have been dramatic with my having to step in and conduct the IPL mega auction. Well, that story is out by now in detail. This message is to send my deepest gratitude to all of you on Twitter and many others who took the trouble to send words of appreciation,”
He added:
“I may be an old warhorse but I am overwhelmed with this large wave of positivity and the flood of respect. Now I don’t know whether this wave of support will pull me back into commentating at major cricketing events. If it does, I am ready, as always. If it doesn’t, so be it. There is so much else to do in life”
