Chennai Super Kings’ Owner Confirmed About MS Dhoni Playing In IPL 2021

The speculations on the future of MS Dhoni, the former skipper, continues to intensify with every passing day. His exclusion from the annual contracts given by the BCCI has added more fuel to the fire. However, MS Dhoni’s participation in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League is absolutely certain and the same has been confirmed by the owner of his team Chennai Super Kings, N.Srinivasan.

Ever since the inception of the Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni has been leading the Chennai Super Kings. CSK is the only team in the IPL history to have had the same captain throughout its journey. He has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings. There were rumors that MS Dhoni might jump into the auction pools before the 2021 auctions.

Last time around, Dhoni was retained by the team and as per it, MS Dhoni earns a whopping amount of Rs 15 crore every season. However, with the age factor, the rumors are that MS Dhoni himself volunteered to go into the auction pool so that the franchise can retain him at a lesser price.

With the speculation of his retirement making rounds, recently, in an interview, Chennai Super Kings’ owner, N.Srinivasan not just cleared that MS Dhoni will play the upcoming IPL but also confirmed that the franchise will release him before the IPL 2021 auctions to retain him in the team.

He revealed:

“MS Dhoni will play this year. And next year he will be in the auction and he will be retained.”

Talking about his international career, Dhoni played his last international match against New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup. It has been months since MS Dhoni played any competitive game and thus his contract was not renewed by the BCCI.

If rumors are to be believed Dhoni might return back to the first-class cricket, where he will return after more than five years. Dhoni has joined the Jharkhand’s squad ahead of their next Ranji Trophy fixture against Uttarakhand.
