Chetan Sharma Made A Big Statement On Rift Between Rohit And Virat

Team India’s chief selector, Chetan Sharma, has rubbished the reports of any rift between India’s batting superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, saying that the duo has been working together as a family. Well, the Indian cricket team went through a major transformation in the last few months, one of which is Rohit Sharma replacing Virat Kohli as the new white-ball captain of team India.

After Kohli stepped down from the T20I captaincy, the selectors dropped him from the ODI captaincy as well. Ever since then speculations about a possible rift between Virat and Rohit have been making rounds on the internet. However, Chetan Sharma has dismissed such reports.

On Friday, while announcing an 18-member squad of Team India for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa in a press conference, Chetan Sharma cleared the air regarding the rumors of a rift. He said:

But about what? Things are absolutely fine. That’s why I was saying don’t go by speculations. We’re all cricketers first and selectors later. There is nothing between them,”

Although he was unhappy with the unnecessary rumors surrounding Rohit and Virat, he looked forward to team India making themselves a stronger force in 2022. He said:

Sometimes I read reports about them and laugh. I’m telling you there is such good planning between them about the future. Things are fantastic. If you were in my place, you would have enjoyed watching how these guys are working together aa a team and family and a unit

“It’s really saddening when people make up things like that. So please, leave controversies behind in 2021. Let’s talk about how to make them the best team,”

Meanwhile, the BCCI announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming 3-match ODI series against South Africa. Rohit Sharma, the newly appointed ODI skipper has been ruled out of the series because of a hamstring injury.
